What the future may hold

Currently there are just over 2,860 single family homes listed in Manatee County.

Two years ago that would have been more than 4,200.

Last year it would have been around the same number as this year.

In Sarasota there are 3,980.

Two years ago that number would have been more than 6,100.

Last year it would have been around the same as this year.

What we are seeing is a leveling out of inventory in the market place.

Think of it this way. Instead of drowning in a market of single family homes for sale we appear to be keeping our head just slightly above water.

The next step could be a further drop in inventory. Combine that with a drop in foreclosures and short sales and you might start to see the beginning of prices going up.

All the best
